Happy Twelve Months, Tim!

Twelve months?! One year?! I just can't believe it. Here is the latest:

Tim is cruising furniture - he steps from side to side to maneuver around the room. He loves to bounce/dance and has finally shown an interest in all of his riding toys (don't get me wrong, he loved sitting on it and having us push him around the house, but now he can play with them independently). Rather than pushing the riding toys from behind, he grabs the front and the back and pushes them sideways. Hey...it works! Tim is also waving and saying bye bye and is so close to clapping.

Guess what decided to make a debut this month? Tim's two front teeth! This has certainly helped in his food selection...

Speaking of, Tim has officially switched over to whole milk. He is finally drinking out of a sippy cup, which I thought he would never do! Now if we could just get him to take his sippy cup at school - so interesting...he drinks it for us, but not as much for anyone else. He eats three meals a day with two snacks. He LOVES cheese (like his Mommy) - particularly string cheese. He also loves yogurt, as well as turkey from the deli (like his Daddy).

Tim got a great report at his 12-month visit with Dr. S. He is 20 lbs. 2.5 oz (15%), 29.5 inches long (45%), and his head circumference was 17.5 inches. I had some concern about these numbers, but Dr. S. reassured me that as long as he was not regressing, he is fine. Needless to say, I'm already anxious about our next appointment.

His birthday party deserves a post on it's own - stay tuned!

Parent Pizza Picnic Day

Tim had a lunch the other day that the parents were invited to attend - a pizza picnic! We had so much fun eating lunch with our little guy!

Here is a picture of Tim with his 'fangs' - only one is showing though. I have tried and tried to get a picture - this is the closest one we have!

With some of his classmates on the Bye-Bye Buggy - this contraption just cracks me up!

Happy Eleven Months, Tim!

Tim is pulling up all over the place. In fact, we HAD to replace our coffee table that I loved so much because rod iron and glass edges just aren't a good mix for a learning-how-to-pull-up little boy. I've been searching for an ottoman for MONTHS and have had no such luck (I guess I'm pretty picky), so we moved our ottoman/bench from the bedroom to the living room for now. It works...but I still have my eyes open!

Tim says "Mamamama" and "Dadadada" and looks at us when he says it - so exciting! He also says "Babababa" a lot, but I'm not exactly sure what that means. You would think it means bottle, but he doesn't seem to equate it to that.

Tim was very cautious when he first started crawling. He would pretty much stay in the same room that we were in, but he has recently become more adventurous. He loves to go to the breakfast room and look down at the pool. One day soon, one day soon!

Boxes - Tim loves them. Out of all of the fancy toys with lights, music, and noise...boxes are his favorite. Nana brought some early birthday presents when she came for a visit and Tim crawls over to the boxes, pulls up on them, and gives a big grin to make sure you saw what he did. One present/box is wrapped and he ripped the bow off of it (sorry, Nana). When he started to tear some of the paper (sorry again, Nana), we moved it out of the way.

We also have a dancer on our hands. Tim loves music - we have mini dance parties almost every afternoon. It is not uncommon for Tim to come home from work to see Tim III jamming to some Vanilla Ice (yes, he likes the old school stuff).

SB2011!

Spring Break this year included a trip to the Loveliest Village on the Plains to visit Erin! We had so much fun going on a Tour d'Auburn!

We went to the building where Erin works (the assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School - pretty impressive, huh?).

Of course we had to stop by good ol' Berta Dunn - such great memories!

Poor Berta was left behind (but not forgotten) for a new, updated 'home' - the new ADPi dorm. I hope Tim finds a cutie here one day!

Of course we had to make a stop to the SNu house - probably the only landmark in Auburn that his daddy really likes!

Aunt Terri and Uncle Phil came in town to meet us for lunch at no other place than Amsterdam's.

Afterwards, we walked around and went shopping downtown. Would you believe that Uncle Phil went with us?! It was a gorgeous day and these two just snuggled up outside and waited patiently for us to finish our shopping. The best part was when we were walking them to their car, Uncle Phil pointed to Behind the Glass and said, "Don't y'all want to go in there? I'll watch Tim over here" - HA HA HA HA! Did he have to ask twice?! So we went across the street and I purchased a little birthday present for someone ;)

All in all, it was a fun couple of days. Thanks for being such a great hostess, Erin - we love and miss you and will come see you again soon!

Happy Ten Months, Tim!

Is Tim really ten months old?! April 30th is going to be here before I know it. In fact, I'm already starting to get some ideas together for his 1st birthday party - I'm so excited!

I feel like this month is, by far, the month that Tim has made the most progress in development. He is finally crawling! He is also very proud of himself as he crawls and the look of pride on his face is priceless!

Tim is also lifting himself up to his knees and is very close to lifting himself up all of the way. When he accomplishes this great feat, he also gives a BIG proud smile as if he's saying, "Wow! Look at what I just did! Did you see me?!" His crib has officially been lowered now and it sure is strange getting used to!

Tim is making lots of sounds and is pretty vocal. When we watch American Idol, Tim 'sings' - it's hilarious. Maybe we'll have our own American Idol - will Birmingham produce another Rubin Studdard?!

Tim and I have been very spoiled in that Tim has always been a great sleeper. Tim's teething has really shown us how spoiled we have been - those 2:30 crying fits are hard! At the very end of January, Tim got his first tooth (lower right). Now, he has his upper right incisor, upper left incisor (though it is not in completely yet [yes, this means he has 'fangs'], and he just cut his lower left tooth today. I guess it's only appropriate that Tim get so many teeth this month. Afterall, it is Dental Health month!

With new teeth comes new food! Tim still LOVES to eat! You can skip over this part if it's too long and boring (Erin), but I want to be sure I remember everything. For breakfast, Tim has a fruit (fresh or baby food) mixed with cereal (sometimes - mainly at school). For lunch and dinner, he eats table food and baby food. As far as table food goes, he likes cheese, mac 'n cheese, noodles, cheese ravioli, turkey, chicken, green beans, potatoes, carrots, Cheerios, those Gerber puffs, and Nutri-Grain Bars. I feel like he isn't a picky eater like his Dad, thank goodness (let's just hope he stays adventurous in that department)! If you have any ideas on different meals for Tim, please share! As far as milk goes, Tim gets a 6-oz bottle in the morning and has cut back his intake at school - usually only 1 (rarely 2) 8-oz bottles. Then he has one feeding in the evenings (rarely 2). On the weekends, he only eats 3 times.

It has been so fun to see the little boy sailing towards the "One" Island at the top of my blog. I can remember thinknig when he was on the far left side that he was never going to get to the other side. It is surreal to me that he is almost there!

Birthday Follow-Up

This is an interpretation of Tim's visit to school on my birthday according to one child in my class:

One child in my class said that Tim was counting lightbulbs in the classroom because he was staring at the lights. I thought it was pretty funny and wanted to document what they thought about their little visitor. LOVE my class!

Birthday Fun

Yesterday was my birthday and I have to say that I had a pretty good day! The festivities were kicked off the day before with a birthday dinner with some dear friends at one of our favorites - Botega (or Bodega...I always get confused with our favorite watering hole from college). I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered something different and LOVED it - if you have not had the Nicoise Salad there, then you should...DE.LISH!

Then I had two special lunch dates surprise me at school on my birthday - my Tims! It was the first time Tim III had visited the school during the school day and the kids loved seeing him. The children even asked if they could sing to him (I know, you can say it out loud if you haven't yet: "Awwww"). Sidenote: We took a field trip on Valentine's Day to a local retirement home and sang Valentine's songs to them. One of the songs was "Skinnamarinky Dinky Dink", which I had told my students that it was Tim III's favorite song. Needless to say, they really wanted to sing it for Tim.

Last night, we had some family over to help celebrate. Tim and Sugar planned the entire thing and Sugar was sweet enough to come over early to help cook appetizers and set up the house. Tim and I even got to go and see a movie after the party. Tim III hung out with his Sugar and Pops, although I should probably say he just slept with them. The poor thing was exhausted from the day's activities (he did not have an afternoon nap...unless you count the 20-minute snoozer he had right before the party).

Thank you to everyone who helped make my day so special. It was a memorable one!
